Biography

Soprano Greer Davis is touted as a "vibrant" performer by Chicago Time Out Magazine, “vocally rich, charming and expressive” by the Barre-Montpelier Times Argus, and “a superb musician” by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Most recently, Ms. Davis sang the role of Sharon with Metropolis Opera Project’s world premier of One Hot Kitchen in New York City. Earlier this season she appeared as Venus and Belinda in the Florentine Opera’s double-bill of Venus and Adonis/Dido and Aeneas, and placed second nationally in The American Prize in Vocal Performance – Schorr Memorial Awards Competition.

She made her regional opera debut at Florentine Opera during the 2008-2009 season in their productions of Handel’s Semele (Iris) and Mozart’s The Magic Flute (Papagena). Other recent roles include Angelica in Handel’s Orlando with Green Mountain Opera Festival; Gretel in Humperdink’s Hansel and Gretel and Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen, both presented by Chamber Opera Chicago; Phyllis in Iolanthe with the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company in Hyde Park (Chicago) and Clorinda in Rossini's La Cenerentola, presented by the Lyric Opera of Chicago's "Opera in the Neighborhoods." Additional operatic performances include Abigail in Robert Ward's The Crucible, Despina in Così fan tutte, Silberklang in The Impresario, and both Pamina and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte.

Frequently appearing in concert, Ms. Davis’s recent appearances include performances at the Pianoforte Salon Series in Chicago (broadcast on WFMT Chicago), the Steinway Piano Gallery (Milwaukee), the Union League Club (Chicago) and the Lincolnwood Concert Series. Abroad, she sang a guest recital at the Bangalore School of Music in Bangalore, India, as well as with the Opera Theater and Music Festival of Lucca, Italy.

Also successful as a competitor, Ms. Davis was a winner of the Minnesota District and a Midwest Regional Finalist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, a multiple award winner at the Bel Canto Foundation (Chicago), and winner of the Annemarie Gerts award from the Musicians Club of Women.

Ms. Davis holds a BMus from the University of Kansas and an MMus from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
